Spotlight: Autistic Callum
A post highlighting an Autistic content creator that has made a positive impact on my life.
Callum Stephen is a proudly LGBTQ+, AuDHDer, writer, and creator from the UK that mainly goes by the handle autistic_callum_ now, but formerly was adulting_with_autism_ too. You might have seen him collaborating with your other favorite content creators as well.
I only included links that I had saved under autistic_callum_, but I have even more saved with the adulting_with_autism_ account too. This one was a struggle to write because I had a hard time narrowing it down to only 10 posts to recommend!
I have learned a tremendous amount about Autism and ADHD through Callum’s posts, and his variety of written content mixed with memes and videos ensures there’s something for everyone’s post preferences. (I lean heavily on written word and image content as I have to be in the right headspace for videos. And even then, I gravitate towards videos with captions and/or written words throughout as I rarely have my sound on when browsing the internet.)
10 Autistic Callum posts that I recommend:
(Some of the captions have different words and information than the image, so be sure to read both! The bold words are my emphasis.)
Autism, Being Right and Knowing What Will Happen Next
Receiving Information “As an autistic person, I usually feel out of the loop and am never told imperative information. I’ve realised that it’s because…”
Many autistic people are told that they have social anxiety, but what they really have is…
Autistic people’s memory may work differently to NT people’s memory.
Common Autistic Skills and Traits
Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Autism, Friends and Acquaintances (This is a video without captions, so you will need sound on to hear the content.)
Hypersensitive to light? This may be why.
Bonus: Autism meets Old Hollywood series posts where images of Old Hollywood stars are paired with words about Autism & ADHD to create memes. These are always a welcome addition to my IG feed!
